This year Aubrey had the opportunity to participate in the Science Fair,
you know that this tickled Steven.
She was so excited.
When Steven asked what she wanted to do,
she said she wanted to find out if Coke really dissolved teeth.
So, Steven was excited and thought she had a good question.
So, off to work they went.
Steven email the dental school to see if they could get some teeth.
They had some available for her.
After getting the teeth,
they headed to the lab.
They had to weigh the teeth, and check the PH balances in the substances,
they would be submerging the teeth in.
They got lots of images.
They worked on the project for two weeks.
Then it was time to post their findings.
Aubrey worked hard on her poster.
All of her hard work paid off...she won an award, as one of the top 3 in her whole elementary school.
It was a sweet surprise that her friend Chase won also.
Now both girls will represent SME at the district Science Fair.
In case you are interested, Coke doesn't exactly dissolve the teeth, but it does soften the enamel. Vinegar, CLR, and Concrete Etching Solution (all stronger acids) will dissolve teeth.
