Adventures with Daddy

Steve posting this time. Now that we've shifted from daycare to Kindergarten, all of a sudden we've got all these days with Aubrey home and no childcare. Funny how that works. So I spent the day with the Polliwogs, which was great. At 5:00 am Jamie decided that he couldn't possibly sleep another wink, so the day started early... no sleeping in on the day off :). Later after Aubrey got up and ready, we headed out to do our Thanksgiving grocery shopping.

Our first adventure happened at Food Lion. They have Christmas trees out front already, and last week Aubrey informed the employees that it was too early for them to be out. Today the trees got even. As we were walking in I accidentally bumped one; it fell over and totally took Aubrey out. She was fine, but it was funny to hear her laughing underneath the tree as I'm trying to get it stood back up. To complete the picture: a little old lady came over, put down her cranberry sauce, and helped me get the tree straightened up while Jamie watched. Do I lose my man card for that? Later Aubrey and I were joking about the tree attacking her, which she thought was very entertaining.

This evening we let Aubrey and Jamie play in the tub, and before we knew it Aubrey got Jamie's hair washed and got him bathed for us. Then she got him out of the tub, dried him off, put a diaper on him, and got his PJ's on. We were always proud of her just for washing her own hair... this had us floored! Such a big girl. She goes back and forth between not wanting to do anything herself to trying to be the best helper she can be. This was one of the "helper" days. She did great, but I guess now I'll have to show her which side of the diaper is the front :)

Happy Thanksgiving! We've got our "Tiny Tim" turkeys (2 cornish hens) and a good but easy meal planned. We've got a lot to be thankful for, including all of you that keep up with our lives and keep us in your hearts.
