Polliwogs aren't the only thing growing

Aubrey's and Steve's garden has been growing like crazy! Everything was planted about 1 month ago (http://thegrayspolliwogs.blogspot.com/2008/05/its-friday.html). The left section is Aubrey's, and the right is Steve's. The tall plants are sunflowers which were planted from seeds. They are 4 feet tall now. In front is a watermelon vine. The rest are various flowers (6 of each were originally planted). Steve has tomatoes, peppers, zucchini (the big thing in the front), carrots, and spinach. We're posting these picture partly because Aubrey was excited to hear how much her flowers grew, and I promised her a picture. We had about a full week of 100+ temperatures, and since Robin watered really well everything more than doubled in size in that one week.

Aubrey got to visit her Great-Aunt Di and Great-Uncle Gerry yesterday and today. They live in the country and have miniature goats. Just stop and imagine how cool that is for a 4-year-old. I talked to her last night and she was such the chatterbox telling me all about it! Apparently, she couldn't touch the boy goats, but she did touch the girl goats. Then she told me a few more times that she couldn't touch the boy goats. Oh, but she could touch the young boy goats... just not the older ones. So funny to hear her talk about it. Everything starts with, "You know what, daddy?"

Today Aubrey went to get her ears pierced in Thomasville at a jewelry store owned by some friends of the family. She was very excited and had her earrings picked out... then she chickened out. That's OK with me... just that much longer before she grows up :). She managed to walk away with a bracelet, though. Now she's getting her hair cut by Ms. Phyllis, who used to cut Christy's hair when she was young.

Jamie is great. He's started working out. Basically, if he's laying on his back he pumps his arms and kicks his legs for long periods of time. If he's lying on his stomach he lifts his head and stretches out like superman, then he kicks his legs like he's swimming. Its pretty funny to watch. He gets really serious when he does it, then I talk to him and he takes a break to smile at me. Very cool. Good Dad moment.

If you haven't figured it out, this is Steve writing today. I'll leave off with a cute Jamie picture:

I can't believe how much he has changed in one week. He so alert and oooooh so handsome . . . just like his Dad (smile). I'm practicing that phrase so I can teach it to him . . . "yep, just like my Dad".

When Aubrey arrives, we'll be sure to check out the web page every day. She's going to be so excited to see her flowers. The sunflowers Grandpa Bernie planted for her are being consumed by deer !! Thankfully, there are still many flowers for her to see, smell and pick.
